Audiences

Audiences is Forge's segmentation tool. An Audience is a saved, dynamic filter over your contacts and attendees — used to target communications, gate ticket visibility, or export a list for use in external tools. Audiences update in real time as the underlying data in Salesforce changes.

What an Audience Contains

An Audience is defined by one or more filter conditions applied to contacts, leads, or attendees in your Salesforce org. Common filter dimensions include:

  • Registration status for a specific event or event group.
  • Ticket type purchased.
  • Custom form answer (e.g., 'dietary preference = vegan').
  • Geographic region (from contact address fields).
  • Tag applied via Forge (custom attribute).
  • Session attendance.

Creating an Audience

  1. Navigate to Audiences in the left sidebar.
  2. Click 'New Audience' and give it a descriptive name (e.g., 'VIP Ticket Holders — Planner Conference 2026').
  3. Add one or more filter conditions using the condition builder. Conditions can be joined with AND or OR logic.
  4. Preview the estimated member count before saving.
  5. Save. The audience is now available to use in Communications and other surfaces.

Using Audiences

Where you can use an AudienceWhat it does
Communications > EmailSends only to members of that audience.
Ticket visibility rulesMakes a ticket visible only to audience members (e.g., a member-only early-bird rate).
ExportDownloads a CSV of current audience members for use in external tools.
ReportingFilters event metrics dashboards to show only the selected audience segment.

PII handling

Audience member lists include names and email addresses sourced from Salesforce Contacts and Leads. This data is fetched just-in-time and never persisted in Forge's own database. Exports create a point-in-time snapshot — handle exported files per your organization's data handling policy.

Salesforce mapping

Audience definitions are stored as bt_base__Rule__c and bt_base__Rule_Condition__c records in Salesforce. The member list is resolved at query time by applying conditions to conference360__Attendee__c and related Contact/Lead records.
